#20 Ed Lehner — Professor at City University of New York & Cryptocurrency Researcher

In this episode, Ed Lehner joins Cryptocurrencyteens to discuss education in crypto, his experience as an educator in CUNY, some of the exciting results of his studies — for example the findings of his research on how crypto can fund education and science research — and educational resources he recommends to teens interested in learning more about crypto.

Edward Lehner is an associate professor in the City University of New York System. In addition to Ed’s teaching responsibilities, he researches educational funding via cryptocurrency. His work proposes an innovative type of research fund using altcoins. Although not a total funding solution, Ed proposes that staking coins can be strategically invested in to yield compound interest. These coins use technologies to collateralise the network and speed the pace of transactions. Additionally, these staking coins pay dividends to masternode holders, so an institution that purchases these type of central hubs could potentially engage in a lucrative form of dividend reinvestment. Using cryptocurrencies as a new funding stream, it is possible that simply garnering large amounts of capital and creating a nonprofit “institute” could also be the future of funding scientific research.
